Who are we
“Lumina” is a Non-Governmental, Apolitical and Non-religious Organization established in the United States of America aiming to strengthen cooperation among the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo living in the United States primarily, and those scattered around the world in order to create a more just and harmonious society in the countries they live in, and in their country of origin.
Our vision
We look forward to an effective and efficient collaboration of the Congolese diaspora and the people of hosts countries they live in, for the creation of a new, relived world where all people will dwell in lasting peace, prosperity and respect for one another focusing our objectives in five areas of development: Agriculture, health, education, transportation, and environment.
Our mission
Empower and equip the Congolese diaspora for a general mobilization for the achievement of sustainable development.
Where are we
The International Bureau of Lumina is located in the United States of America. Regional offices are also located in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, South Africa, India, China and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Our team
Lumina is coordinated by Congolese intellectuals living in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.
Lumina was founded by a group of Congolese-Americans to serve as a tool to tackle the questions of poverty through intercommunity collaboration to advance social development by supporting key activities in the sectors of agriculture, education, health, transportation and environment.
Our Objectives are to:

Enhance cooperation among Congolese and citizens of the host countries they live in;

Build capacities for common actions;

Mobilize related reources;

Develop strategies for partnerships and alliances with relevant stakeholders in our five areas of focus: agriculture, education, health, transportation, and environment.
Our motto
United we will succeed! As stated by the great Greek Fabulist Aesop, union is the basic concept which has supported the foundation of all great nations in history. With this approach, Lumina puts the Congolese individual at the origin, the center, and the implementation of its action, a feature exclusive to this Organization.
The General Coordination of Lumina is led by experienced former officers of the United Nations, Political Science field and International Relations professionals as well as Congolese students pursuing degrees and qualifications in the areas of humanitarian intervention, economics, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, law and other degrees.
Lumina is parented by two major international bodies: R4D based in Washington DC, USA, and the British Council based in London UK. Lumina also receive technical support from several other organizations with similar objectives.
Where do we work
Our activities are geared toward the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Although based on American, Asian, and European soil, our offices are located to benefit from contacts, expertise, cooperation, strategic collaboration and critical lobbies. The main target of our work is on the land of our forefathers as well as the territories where we currently live.
